The history and evolution of dealer inventory management software. How we went from a single photo to partnering with a network of 40,000 dealerships.

HOW IT STARTED – A SINGLE PHOTO

AutoSource was started in 2003 when automotive dealers were unsure of the Internet and how successful it would be. We started with taking just one photo per vehicle. Since then we have seen the industry grow to using 30+ photos and even videos. Throughout the years we have continually focused our energy on providing dealers with the latest dealer inventory management software and best practices. This has led to a number of improvements.

OUR DEALER INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

From 2003 to 2007, we had our own dealer inventory management platform. But this quickly became outdated. We wanted to continue giving our customers a world class experience, but needed a better way to manage our inventory. This led to us partnering with HomeNet Automotive and integrating with their Homenet IOL platform. This partnership has proven to be extremely successful.

On December 24, 2010 HomeNet was purchased by Autotrader. This put us in a much better position to play with “the big boys” of the industry. It also allows our clients to have a faster speed to market because we are now part of the vast network with Manheim, VinSolutions, Kelley Blue Book, Dealertrack, vAuto, Xtime and over 40,000 automotive dealerships in the U.S. In addition, we resell many of the products you are familiar with, such as SpinCar, HomeNet, Dealeron, FlickFusion and other vehicle marketing solutions.

NOT A VENDOR – A PARTNER

Our “Not a Vendor, a Partner” approach makes us proud to say that we have retained a number of our original clients from 2003. Most companies will act as if churn doesn’t exist. But we feel it’s very relevant and something we are proud of, as our churn only averages 5% each year. This means that if you do business with us, there is a 95% chance you will continue to do business with us. Why? Because each of our employees understands that in the automotive industry you better get it right the first time, and if you get it right the first time… you’re a partner, and not a vendor.

During the past four years we have grown 100% each year, and now do business in nearly every state in the southeast.
